I miss just one thing from the days when I was a practicing Catholic as a child: the confession. The idea was that when you screw up, you don’t have to own it forever. You can admit you screwed up, tell God that you are sorry, and get a fresh start. Sins, they told us, leave a mark on your soul. Confession removes the stain.
