Lawmakers say they have a plan to help families afford college in a state home to some of the nation's most expensive public universities.

TRENTON — Two state lawmakers on Wednesday will unveil a plan they say can make college more affordable for New Jersey students and their families.

Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-Gloucester) and Sen. Sandra Cunningham (D-Hudson) will announce the initiative at a 3 p.m. news conference in Trenton, according to Sweeney’s office.
