The Mental Health First Aid class covers topics such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. It is imperative for teachers, school staff, and other adults who regularly interact with young people to understand the risk factors and warning signs of these mental health challenges that are common among adolescents. Participants will learn about the five-step action plan which reiterates the importance of early intervention and how to support a youth in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge.
