New Jersey Earth Science Teachers Association: From Phenomenon to Assessment – Teaching and Learning with NGSS

February 3, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

$25

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) were developed to better align science education with learning that prepares students for success in college and in the 21st century workforce.  The standards were rolled out in 2013 and continue to be implemented in schools across the United States in an effort to offer a science education that is cutting edge and will lead to the next generation of students who will innovate and participate competitively in a global market.  For teachers who are ready to create lessons aligned with NGSS standards, this one-day workshop is for you!

As it is more specifically outlined on the Duke Farms website, “We will identify compelling and student friendly phenomena, build lesson sequences around them, and develop assessment tools to measure student proficiency in selected discipline core ideas, crosscutting concepts, science and engineering practices, and performance expectations. Duke Farms will provide inspiration and be our learning laboratory. Participants will receive tools and resources to facilitate the process of creating their own lessons and units.”

Program fee includes morning coffee and lunch.
