Mindful Practices for Those Who Give the Most: Educators!

December 13, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

$149

It’s no secret that Teachers are overextended in a ton of different ways –Demanding schedules with only a small amount of time to complete mandatory deadlines is overwhelmingly taxing. Not to mention SGO’s, new technologies to learn, teacher evaluations and the ever-changing education landscape with new methods and “solutions” that need to be mastered to reach teaching “success.” Phew…no wonder there is so much stress.  Let this session help…

Straight from the NJPSA/FEA event description: “Educators give until they have zero left to give – and then they give some more. High levels of stress are affecting teacher health and well-being, causing teacher burnout, lack of engagement, job dissatisfaction, poor performance, and some of the highest turnover rates ever. Mindful practices can help teachers develop coping and awareness skills to reduce anxiety, depression, and improve health. Studies find that teachers who regularly use stress reducing strategies increase their abilities to cope with the demands of the career and are positioned to do a better job educating students. These findings strongly suggest that by prioritizing an educator’s social and emotional learning helps him or her to be there to participate in school wide SEL practices.

During this session participants will learn: • Mindfulness/stress reduction practices to promote self-regulation of attention • Non-judgmental awareness • How to develop a personal mindfulness practice (which is necessary to be a mindful teacher which is necessary to teach mindfulness!) and • How to maximize the space between stimulus and response.”
