Humor, Inspiration, and Motivation: Keeping “H.I.M.” in focus
May 22, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
$149It’s pretty obvious that when you lighten the mood and bring humor into your classroom, it feels better for both you and your students. But did you know that research has shown that bringing humor into the classroom ACTUALLY makes it better? The NEA has an article on their website about using humor in the classroom and the science behind the research of it’s impact on learning: “We’re finding humor actually lights up more of the brain than many other functions in a classroom,” says Morrison, author of Using Humor to Maximize Learning. “In other words, if you’re listening just auditorily in a classroom, one small part of the brain lights up, but humor maximizes learning and strengthens memories.”
In this session, participants will be able view examples of how a school district uses H.I.M. (humor, inspiration, and motivation) and will leave with knowledge of how to utilize H.I.M. in assessment, standards, grading, interviewing, technology, and more—to motivate and inspire all students!
